The First Quest - How it Works!

The First Quest is designed so that we are evaluating your family as much as you are evaluating us. Our philosophies must be well-aligned. This is not a traditional application. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it is for parents and heroes to reflect honestly on what they believe, what they want, and what they are willing to commit to. Most schools accept applications. We ask for something more meaningful.
Answer the Call
  1. Get Started: with an Info Kit and complete your own research!

  2. Tour: We invite you to schedule a campus tour. Come see the studios, meet a guide, and get a feel for what this community actually looks like.

  3. Read Courage to Grow: Before completing The First Quest, both parents should read Courage to Grow by Laura Sandefer. Families who have read the book better understand what to expect from the Acton Journey! It is available on Amazon and takes most parents a weekend.

  4. Shadow Day: Your learner spends a full day inside the studio as an observer; no pressure, no evaluation. Just a real look at what this community is all about.

  5. The First Quest: After the Shadow Day, parents and learners each complete their portion of The First Quest. This is about an hour commitment for both parents and learners. There are no right answers, only honest reflections.
6. Hero Day: After we review your First Quest responses, your hero is invited back for a full day as a participant, not an observer. This is your hero's chance to fully partake in studio life.

7. Family Conversation: After the Hero Day, we schedule a conversation with the full family to answer remaining questions and make sure this is the right call for everyone. We ask it plainly: are you sure Acton is right for your family?

8. Decision: We convey a decision within 24 hours of the family conversation. If it is a yes on both sides, your family's seat is secured with your initial registration form, the $500 family enrollment fee, and first month's tuition deposit.
